I love living in Iowa and I love that we have the ability to experience all four seasons in the year. A lot of people automatically think that fall is the best time to get photos done, but I want to highlight the perks of doing photos in the spring, summer, and winter. So I'm starting off with spring!
First of all, I love spring temperatures! Spring has those perfect temperatures that are warm enough to be outside without being bundled up, but you are also not sweating and uncomfortable.
Also, bugs! Or lack thereof. In the early spring, a lot of the bugs and mosquitos haven't come out yet so we don't have to worry about loading on the bug spray and no one is swatting at bugs in the middle of a photo.
Third, is the sunset time. I prefer to shoot an hour before sunset when the gorgeous golden light is shining. Depending on when we are shooting in the spring, that could mean starting anywhere from 6:30pm-7:30pm. Which means you can still get your kids home and to bed at a reasonable hour.
And lastly, the flowers. There is some beautiful plant life in the spring that can look amazing in your photos. My favorite is the short window of time in early May when the bluebells are out.
